DIGITISING A HISTORIC ORGANISATION

Founded in 1760, Lloyd’s Register Group Limited (LR) is a global engineering, technical and business services organisation, which provides quality assurance and certification for the marine, energy and transportation sectors.

Lloyd's Register approached Building Blocks to help to adopt a ‘digital first’ approach, consolidate their online presence and, ultimately, implement a full digital transformation within the organisation.

Centralising global content management

With its 78 markets all requiring localised, specialist content, and 9,000 employees in over 200 offices all managing their digital touchpoints disparately, LR needed a centralised, yet flexible, CMS platform.

LR required a solution that would enhance its brand presence, and help demonstrate the breadth of its capabilities, innovation and leadership around the world. An important requirement was the ability to localise the sites for each of its 78 operating markets.

In addition to the LR sites, the separately branded LR QA accreditation division also needed to be accommodated in the solution.

Delivering new capabilities

We brought LR’s website onto a centralised CMS with built-in translation and localisation ability. This allows brand consistency to be maintained, whilst also making the provision of localised content easier and faster. In order to ensure that this local content was delivered to the correct markets we implemented a geo-targeting solution.

To give LR staff the knowledge and skills they need to manage their website and make 'digital first' a company value, we undertook training of their global digital teams from five international hubs. The new platform and website has now been successfully rolled out to over 50 markets.

A long-lasting relationship

Our expertise doesn't stop at building and rolling out world-class digital solutions. LR asked us to create a three year digital roadmap for ongoing development and the growth of their digital first strategy and ethos.

We are now implementing the roadmap which includes Digital Operations support, global geo-redundant cloud hosting, optimisation and user experience improvements.
