Graduate Intern Data Science

Starting date: February 2020 | Location: Amsterdam or Tilburg

your challenge

Are you ready to unleash your talent and make impact on the future of data science solutions? Then we would like to meet you!

To guarantee high quality data science solutions for our clients we need to remain in the top segment of the market. This means that we continuously improve our technology and solutions. Do you want to advance the technology behind our solutions in a topic that is relevant for one of our retail or insurance clients? Then you are the intern we are looking for!

The following topics are available to apply for (starting date is February 2020):

  • Complements and substitutes in product recommendations: To assist the consumer as good as possible when shopping online product recommendations play a major role. Therefore, product recommendations should match the preferences and behaviors of the consumer. When, for instance, you are doing your groceries online and are looking for a certain red wine, do you want advise (recommendations) on a complementary product such as a cheese that matches the rede wine. Or do you want instead of a cheese recommendation a recommendation for a substitute, a cheaper wine for example? The cheese and cheaper wine are examples of complements and substitutes in product recommendations which might have an effect on customer behavior. But what are the effects of these recommendations on the sales of products? Can we recognize complementary and substitute products from transaction data? And can retailers use these effects to optimize their product recommendations? It will be your challenge to answer these questions!
  • Augmented Analytics: As a Data Scientist one of the first things you do when you receive a new dataset is to find insights and anomalies to get familiar with the data. However, many of the activities associated with the 'Data Discovery' are still highly manual, resulting in inefficient preparation and possible missing of insights. In this research you will try to apply Augmented Analytics methods to create a highly-efficient automated  data preparation and data discovery and answer the question how far augmentation can go.
