Project Management

The Building Blocks project management principle is one of control and collaboration, delivered with absolute transparency.

We utilise PRINCE2 methodology insofar as it's a proven means to ensuring a structured, comprehensive document set. But we also give flexibility plenty of latitude within this method.

This means projects will often be broken down into manageable agile-like deliverables. As a result, the benefits of our solution are made available to you sooner as the project progresses.

Teamwork is key

The collaboration element begins with our identifying project deliverables with you, so that the scope of the project is established at the outset.

In turn these are listed in a project initiation document for all stakeholders to agree on. This will detail key dependencies for both Building Blocks and your organisation. A detailed, realistic project plan is also drawn up, which we then work to.

And as our project managers have in depth technical experience, they maintain a full understanding of what's being delivered, and how to manage risks effectively.

Reporting and measurement

Typically, we will provide structured reporting inline with the project needs. In the majority of cases this is the form of weekly highlight reports and regular phone calls and email to ensure you always fully informed of the status of your project.

Where issues arrise that require urgent attention they will immediately be flagged as such and a resolution discussed with all relevant people at the earliest opportunity.

Risk and issue management

We keep our risk management mechanism simple and robust, so that all potential problems are brought to the fore.

The project manager stays up to speed with risks on a daily basis, and all such issues are highlighted in a weekly report. These can be discussed through conference calls and project board meetings.

Managing change

In the real world, projects are usually subject to change. It's more or less inevitable, so we have built in a change management process that's proven to work.

Changes are quickly logged and analysed to see how they will affect the project. We'll alert you to these and their implications. Documentation and a clear audit trail will also be created for every change, no matter how small.

This also means that documentation accurately reflects project scope on an up to date basis.
