Tridion Landing Site Generator
A techy solution for the non-technical user
Background
Micro Focus is a FTSE 250 company, with a reputation for dramatically improving the value of clients' enterprise applications through software innovation.
The company produces a number of targeted ecommunications throughout the year to promote its events, webinars, products and case studies. These usually include a landing site and data capture form, historically created by an in-house 'landing site generator' or custom development.
It was this component which was seen to have significant limitations:
- Unfamiliar tool - staff required IT guidance when setting up landing pages
- Technical resource needed for any customisation
- No consistency between pages, email or custom developments
- Limit of three form types meant additional requirements or changes demanded custom development
From these issues Micro Focus defined three main aims:
- Online templates to be rationalized
- Enable non-technical personnel to create simple campaigns
- Apply consistent branding across campaigns
SDL Tridion was judged to be the best solution basis, and a previous collaboration between Micro Focus and Building Blocks proved that Building Blocks could be relied upon to deliver the desired results.
Solution
Micro Focus' web technology team and Building Blocks duly delivered a solution which allows marketing and business users to easily create dedicated landing sites and rich emails for their marketing initiatives:
- Using SDL Tridion R5.2, Building Blocks designed schemas and templates to facilitate page, HTML, emails and forms creation
- Content editors simply create a single component in Tridion to configure details, look & feel and functionality of landing pages
- The saved component triggers automatic generation of a set of pages and URLs by code in the Tridion event system. Notification emails are sent containing these pages and URLs
- Advanced validation ensures completed details are unique and in correct format
- Every template element can be localised, to allow global campaigns in local markets
- All published forms integrate with Micro Focus' CRM system, and provide success measurement for each campaign
- When a landing site goes live, further notifications are sent to relevant personnel
- To date, the solution has generated around 100 campaigns in local markets with no need for IT team involvement
