Upgrade Scan
Looking at your platform as it stands, we'll work out how it has been applied and configured. We'll take into account any customisations. And if there's no documentation associated with the implementation, we'll create it so the subsequent upgrade is appropriately supported.
A gap analysis will then compare your existing platform with the new version, and help inform the planning of the implementation. Our recommendations will be driven by business considerations, so we make sure the upgrade makes best use of new features in terms of your operations. Similarly, we'll plan any customisations with a clear upgrade path for any future developments.
Clear communication
It's a crucial role of the Building Blocks Project Manager to make plans clear, and to action a detailed communications strategy. This keeps all relevant people 'in the loop' and aware of any effects on the system during the upgrade. Your upgrade itself will be performed by our highly skilled and experienced technical consultants. They will work to a well-defined plan that's underpinned by a rollback strategy - a 'safety net' provision if things don't turn out as planned.
Migration
If you're planning a migration, Building Blocks will perform the same analysis between the current and new systems, to highlight the differences and similarities between the two.
Again, because we're business minded, we'll always recommend the most pragmatic method of moving between the systems for your organization and its needs. It may mean using automated tools, or manually re-entering content so you can review and clean content in the process.
We'll also look at the needs of the systems' stakeholders, to identify if and where training is required.
