Creating a community that really adds up for 129,000 finance professionals

Background

CPA Australia is one of the world's largest accounting bodies with a membership of more than 129,000 finance, accounting and business professionals across the globe.

The organisation wanted to support its core member services more fully than ever before, by developing an online connecting & exchange community that was closely tailored to the CPA's specific needs and ambitions.

The vision was to create an online community with the scope to foster discussion, learning, development of content and networking amongst CPA Australia Members.

Solution

CPA selected the Telligent Evolution platform for their community's technical base, and tasked Building Blocks with getting the application up and running.

Although installation was carried out remotely, a close working relationship with the CPA team was maintained throughout the project. Telligent Community 5.5 was configured to the CPA's exact requirements, using our existing documentation sets. Our designer and front end developer then implemented a custom theme, based on CPA's brand guidelines.

We also developed a set of custom widgets, to allow the CPA to easily brand areas of the community or groups with specific graphical banners.

To save time and resources, Building Blocks' Telligent user migration tool imported user profiles directly into Telligent from the CPA's existing CRM system, including specific CPA custom fields. Secure passwords were also generated via this process.

CPA had also highlighted a need to send targeted email blasts to groups of community members. Building Blocks consequently created a control panel extension to allow CPA to select specific user groups and email them directly - all from within Telligent Community.

The solution was deployed and supported by full documentation, and Building Blocks also successfully delivered remote training sessions via WebEx. As a result, the CPA team were able to quickly get up to speed and in full command of the new platform.
