Project Management

The plan is open and honest communication

We work in a collaborative way, developed in partnership with your team. Although we follow a PRINCE2 methodology to ensure a structured and complete document set, we're pragmatic with it. Projects will often be broken down into smaller phased agile-like deliverables, so you can start to gain the benefit of our solutions as soon as possible.

The plan begins by working with you to identify and highlight project deliverables, so from the outset everyone has a clear understanding of what needs to be done to fulfill the scope.

We then list all these details in a project initiation document to gain an agreement from all stakeholders. Key project dependencies - from both Building Blocks and your organisation - are indentified and highlighted as part of the document, so everyone is aware of their role and tasks. A detailed realistic project plan is also drawn up which we work to.

One of Building Blocks' great strengths is that our project managers have experience in technical areas. It means they have a full understanding of what is being delivered, and this enables them to fully manage the project's associated risks.

Reporting and measurement

Typically, we will provide structured reporting inline with the project needs. In the majority of cases this is the form of weekly highlight reports and regular phone calls and email to ensure you always fully informed of the status of your project.

Where issues arrise that require urgent attention they will immediately be flagged as such and a resolution discussed with all relevant people at the earliest opportunity.

Risk and issue management

Our risk management is simply and effectively structured to ensure nothing 'slips under the radar'. And because we prefer to work in open and honest ways, we guarantee you'll always know what's going on.

The Building Blocks project manager keeps abreast of any risks or issues on a daily basis. Risks are detailed in a weekly highlight report, and discussed in conference calls and project board meetings.

Managing change

Changes almost inevitably will occur as the project progresses. Our change management processes mean any such variance is accurately logged, and analysed to establish what effect it will have on the project. We'll then discuss this analysis with you, before your sign off. In essence, this process means that any change - no matter how minor - is documented, so there's always a clear audit trail. Equally, even though changes occur, there's always complete documentation of the scope to be delivered at all times.
